Chinese Holly

The Chinese holly bonsai tree, commonly referred to as Ilex, is an evergreen plant that is popular among bonsai enthusiasts.

It is characterized by its small, glossy leaves and can produce small white flowers and black fruits.

The term "Chinese holly" can refer to several species of holly native to China, but it is often associated with Ilex cornuta, which is known for its spiny leaves and hardiness.

Characteristics 

• Leaves: The leaves of the Chinese holly are typically larger and can have pronounced spines, distinguishing them from other species like the Japanese holly (Ilex crenata), which has smaller, smoother leaves.
• Flowers and Fruits: While the Chinese holly can produce flowers and fruits, this usually requires the presence of both male and female trees for pollination. 

Care Requirements 

• Light: Chinese holly bonsai prefers bright, indirect sunlight. It can tolerate full sun but may need protection during the hottest parts of the day.
• Watering: The soil should be kept moist but not soggy. Regular watering is essential, especially during the growing season.
• Fertilization: A balanced liquid fertilizer is recommended during the growing season to promote healthy growth.
• Pruning and Wiring: Regular pruning is necessary to maintain its shape. Wiring can be done to train the branches, but care should be taken as the branches can be brittle.
• Repotting: This bonsai should be repotted every couple of years, ideally in early spring before new growth begins.

That said, we reserve the right to hold the tree(s) to guarantee a healthy delivery. We will Hold Your Tree Until It is Safe to Ship.
