Rare Mark Comstock Japanese Black Pine Seedling Cuttings
Well, OK... maybe not that rare. What's awesome about Mark's Japanese Black Pines is the growing process to achieve arial roots. A lot of growers have tried, but none have succeeded to grow Japanese Black Pines like Mark Does.
We bought several of these from Mark for a workshop. This might be the last one. As you can imagine, the root flair is already great. Tree is not ready for styling in the spring.
We are fortunate to live near Mark and that he sells us 100's (sometimes thousands) of these yearly.
The Japanese black pine is a native of Japan and is arguably one of the most classic of bonsai. What makes these seedling cuttings unique is their fine radial root base. Because these lateral roots were developed, you will have the ability to grow a pine bonsai with a flared trunk. These flared trunks are highly sought after on pine bonsai.
